Excellent monthly french magazine Voiles&Voiliers had good idea to carry out "my" project to compare different types of rigging in real circumstances and they did it better than me: 10 sails on same hulls taking part in regatta on Olympic triangle!!!

 

The results of the V&V test confirm theoretical tunnel works of  C. A. Marchaj as well as mine experiences and observations... which , apparently from now, are not so subjectives! 

 

Two comments:

Victorious sail Lakatoi  ( rather Lobster Claw...) chosen to test is - may be - the most beautiful and most striking from the Crab Claw family but not the most effective.

Differences at the finish line would be more significant if the hull chosen for the races would be more efficient than “optimist's”one...
